Love it? Please give us 5 stars!
Our dance continues as Janell weaves the sun science Dr Daneals revealed in the previous episode into the practical realm of skin care and diet. Learn about specific mechanisms of sun damage, along with strategies for mitigation and repair via natural remedies applied topically as well as taken internally through seasonal foods and specific supplements.
The sun should not be feared, but embraced! It can beautify and “age you backwards” if your dance is on point.
Book:
Bio-Young by Roxy Dillon
Chapter 4: Here Comes The Sun
*studies and sources begin on page 246
This monumental book has been my beauty Bible for years.
I have a paperback as well as a Kindle version as the later allows me to
search key words for quick references.
Janell's Protect and Repair Sun Formula
Use faithfully before sun exposure.
This works beautifully as a daily moisturizer. If you would like to reduce the shiny look on your face, use a cosmetic puff or pad to apply a light layer of arrowroot powder.
No specific measurements given, as I generally wing my skin care recipes.
However, ingredients are accurately listed in order of quantity. You got this!
*seek organic sources for all oils and herbal glycerin tinctures
Fill a 12oz tinted glass bottle:
Rice bran oil (this base will account for 3/4 the mixture)
Tamanu oil
Vitamin E oil
Rosehip oil
Olive squaline
Black cumin oil
Carrot seed oil
Red raspberry seed oil
Don quai glycerine tincture
Gotu kola glycerine tincture
Amla glycerine tincture
Helichrysum essential oil
Rosemary essential oil
Chamomile essential oil
-shake bottle well before applying
Summertime Tomato Face Mask:
1 Tbsp organic tomato paste
1 tsp organic extra virgin olive oil
-mix and apply to face, neck and decolletage, leave on 15 min,
gently moisten to remove. Use 3x or more per week.
What's fabulous is that this exact recipe also equals
one daily dose of activated lycopene for cellular sun protection.
So, grab a spoon and eat a Tbsp of this delicious mixture daily throughout the sunny seasons
(I keep a jar of it in my fridge)....then slather some on your face
a few times per week!
Cellular sun protection foods:
*please seek organic sources and local when possible
Watermelon
Blueberries--especially wild variety
Olive Oil
Strawberries
Tomatoes esp. tomato paste + olive oil (olive oil activates bio-availability
of the lycopene)
Green tea (drink, or can be taken in tincture extract form)
Black tea
Apples
Ceylon cinnamon (has to be Ceylon. Can be taken in capsules)
Red or black grapes
Black plums, any variety
Prunes
Onions
Carrots
Broccoli
Raw Cacao
Amla Fruit (form of paste, tincture, powder, tablets, capsules)
Gotu kola (tablets, capsules, tincture, etc)
Don Quai (ditto)
*Remember: SUGAR deteriorates cellular sun protection and
inhibits ability to integrate benefits.
Hyaurlonic acid serum-either on its own or in a toner boasting a high concentration of it, should be applied topically on clean skin and allowed to dry before applying oil or moisturizer.
Supplement internally with hyaurlonic acid as well: 250mg daily
Rooster comb cartilage is the best source of hyurlonic acid (most capsules will contain this form). Vegan sources are available but slightly less effective.
My #1 favorite supplement which has a very specific antioxidant effect to mitigate sun damage is Astaxanthin
Take 12mg daily
